At Melody Makers, our philosophy is two-fold…
First, we believe in teaching all aspects that make learning an instrument possible, enjoyable, and easy. These aspects include proper technique, note reading, and music theory. Second, we believe musicianship is more than just the ability to play an instrument. Our students learn about setting goals, and reaching them. They learn how to break a large task into smaller, more manageable ones. They learn the value of practice, and get first-hand experience with the joys that come from working toward, and mastering a new skill. Technique and Theory
We believe the fundamentals of producing a proper sound, (technique) combined with a thorough understanding of musical language, and syntax, (Theory) is essential to cultivating a lifelong connection with music.

Students will learn how to create the best and healthiest sound on their instrument. This includes posture, tone production, physical coordination, and all other specific requirements of their instrument. Additionally, students will develop an ability to quickly recognize common patterns while reading music, such as scales, arpeggios, and chord shapes. This will make learning new music faster and more enjoyable.
Importance of practice
As professionally trained, educated, and working music teachers, we understand the importance, and value of practice. We arm students with the same techniques
that allow us to unlock our musical potential. These techniques include slowing down, separating hands, and isolating sections. Overall, we believe in a “whole-part-whole” approach to learning and perfecting new music.

We also believe that the most important aspect of the budding musician is developing a sensitive musical ear. You can’t fix an issue in a piece of music, or exercise, without first realizing that there is one. That’s why, at Melody Makers, students are encouraged to think about and analyze their playing. With a sensitive ear, and concrete practice strategies, students will get the most out of their time between lessons.
Personalized curriculum to fit all levels and interests
At Melody Makers, Each Curriculum is personalized to the student and their interests. At the beginning of the musical journey, we develop reading, theory, and sight reading skills through gold standard, tried and trusted Method and supplement books. These methods include “Piano Adventures” by Randall, and Nancy Faber, “Guitar for the Small Fy” by Bennet Dick, among others.

The rate at which we move through these methods is entirely dependent on the student’s comfort with the material. A student can advance quickly through new concepts, and we will match the speed of the student. If, however, students are struggling with concepts, additional material, exercises, and support is provided. The main goal at Melody Makers is the growth and development of all students.

At the point where reading, and execution of musical concepts becomes second nature, students are free to explore their own musical interests and goals with their instructors. This may come in the form of classical composers, rock artest, K-pop, and any other musical style or genre in-between.
